How does it work?

The principle

Upon accessing a website your local computer connects directly to the hosting server of the web service you have selected and you will receive a copy of the wanted website. Simultaniously the web sites host will receive information on your web identity (IP-address).
When accessing a website using anonymoX your request will not be sent to the website directly but first to our network. From there, depending on the choosen service, the request is forwarded to the wanted network. The website now will not recognise you accessing their information, but instead will note our network establishing a connection. Therefore the website can't identify you using the technical method (IP-address). You are now surfing with the (IP-)address of one of our Proxy-Servers that you can select in a menu.

Is my internet slower with anonymoX enabled?

When using the service "anonymoX", normal web surfing will be as faster or even faster since we use different techniques to cut the amount of data transmitted.
Bigger downloads (20MB and up) are limited due to fairness to other users to 1000kbit/s (matches the speed of a DSL 10.000 fibre connection).
When using Tor, JonDo or I2P the speed will probably be reduced, since these services tend to be slower. Collected data regarding the download speed are between 10kbit/s bis 200kbit/s.
